The Philosophy of Our Lady of Lourdes School We are an inner-city Catholic school, deeply rooted and integrated into the faith community of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Jamaica Plain. We are a multi-cultural community striving to meet the academic needs of the people whom we serve. The dignity and self-worth of each individual is of prime importance as we endeavor to integrate learning with the experience of living out the Christian faith. The teaching of religion is seen not as a separate entity or discipline but rather as a way of life which permeates and gives value to all expressions of learning. We try to develop within our students the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective and contributing members of society by encouraging them to be a witness to their faith, to use their talents in service to others, and to become builders of a caring community.
